Main routes to Salto del Nervión and its overlooks
There are several trails leading to Salto del Nervión, each with different characteristics in terms of distance, difficulty, and route type. Some options are easier and more accessible, while others require more effort and are designed for experienced hikers. Choosing the right trail is key to enjoying your visit. Which one will you pick?
Route from Monte Santiago (the easiest one)
The route starting near Monte Santiago is the easiest and most popular way to visit the Salto del Nervión. It is an easy, well-marked trail suitable for most people. From the parking lot, you can reach the main viewpoint directly via a short, easy walk, ideal for those looking for a quick and hassle-free visit. There is also the option of taking a circular route through the area—slightly longer but just as easy—which allows you to enjoy other parts of this incredible natural setting. This is the best option if you’re looking for an accessible route, especially if you’re visiting with family or a group.
Route from Delika (starting from the bottom)
The route from Delika is a more challenging but very scenic option. This trail allows you to view the Salto del Nervión from the base of the canyon, looking up from below. It is a longer route with a steeper elevation gain, so it requires a higher level of physical fitness. The trail begins in Delika and climbs gradually until it reaches the area around the Salto del Nervión. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views that are quite different from those at the higher lookouts. It’s an interesting route for those seeking a unique experience.
Route from Untzaga (alternative)
This is the least well-known route, but also one of the most beautiful. That said, it’s longer and more challenging. It’s a very interesting alternative if you want to explore the area from a different perspective. After all, this route allows you to see the Salto del Nervión up close, whereas the conventional route only lets you view the waterfall from the overlook.

Which route to choose
The choice of route depends on the type of hike you want to take. If you’re looking for something easy and accessible, the best option is the route starting from Monte Santiago. If you prefer a more comprehensive experience, you can choose Untzaga, and if you want a different route, Delika. In any case, it’s important to consider the trail conditions and weather before setting out.
